Roosters halfback Sam Walker has escaped a charge for an ugly tackle that caused an injury to Dragons prop David Klemmer, despite being sent to the sin bin for the incident.
On Sunday, the NRL sent around the charge sheet for Saturday’s games, with Walker a notable omission.
Tyrell Sloan (dangerous contact), Mark Nawaqanitawase (dangerous contact) and Sione Finau (tripping) were the three players to cop charges from the Roosters’ win over the Dragons with all being fined.

In the 26th minute with the Dragons leading 18-12, Klemmer took a hit-up before being tackled by two Roosters players and Walker was the third man in cutting his legs from below the knee.
“He has gone down awkwardly there and Walker went low and Klemmer was wincing before he got to ground,” Dan Ginnane said.
“It’s a penalty for third man in and dangerous contact.
“He might be in more trouble than just giving away a penalty, he might get 10 in the bin.”
Steve Roach believes it was a dangerous tackle and warranted a sin bin.
“Anything below the knee just charging in like that third man in, that’s very dangerous,” Roach said.

“He knew straight away there Sam Walker and that will go on report,” Kevin Walters added.
Referee Grant Atkins wasted no time in sending Walker for a 10-minute spell.
“Third man in, it’s low, it’s avoidable, there is force and high risk of injury, 10 in the bin,” Atkins said.

“Sam Walker in his return game has been sent to the sin bin,” Ginnane said.
“He will get 10 minutes to think about that.”
Roach called it a fair decision with Klemmer going off with an injury.
“I don’t mind that, big Klemmer is off too,” Roach said.
