Reece Walsh joked that Broncos coach Michael Maguire wouldn’t be happy with him for giving away a certain try to teammate Kobe Hetherington in a moment of showmanship.

Walsh was excellent overall for the Broncos but he gave away an easy try to Hetherington in the 26th minute when Jaiyden Hunt made a break and passed the ball back inside to Walsh.
The Broncos fullback had ran into the in-goal area and instead of putting the ball down for a try, he waited and looked around for Hetherington, passing backwards to the Broncos forward who scored easily.
Fox League commentator Warren Smith said: “He gives it back to Kobe Hetherington to score in game No. 100. A cheeky moment there, a try for the milestone man.

“I was wondering for a moment what Reece Walsh was doing. He can’t be lairing it up here in the situation they’re in, needing to win. But he was looking for Kobe Hetherington.”
Nathan Hindmarsh said on Fox League at halftime: “Great ball from Walsh sets up Jaiyden Hunt there for Walsh. But in your 100th game you deserve a try and Walsh puts it on a platter for Hetherington.”
Former Broncos coach Kevin Walters chimed in: “Oh come on Hindy!”
“I’m not a fan of that … throwing the ball back in the in-goal,” Walters said.
“I don’t agree with it.
“What if he (Hetherington) dropped it … he (Walsh) is even more in the headlines then.”
Hindmarsh asked Walsh about the try assist post game, and Brisbane’s No. 1 confessed coach Maguire wasn’t too impressed with it.
Hindmarsh said: “Kobe Hetherington, you put him over for one of the easiest tries I’ve ever seen in NRL history. Was that something that was always going to be planned or you thought, ‘He’s close enough, good enough’.
Walsh replied: “He was into me a few weeks ago saying he doesn’t get many tries. I don’t think Madge (Maguire) was too happy when I done that.
“We’ll leave that one when where it was and not talk about it again. Cheers mate.”
Walsh ran for 176 metres as Brisbane’s back five of Josiah Karapani (194m), Kotoni Staggs (175m), Gehamat Shibasaki (142m) and Deine Mariner (252m) all produced mega performances.
The fullback has been managing a PCL knee injury throughout the season and said he was playing more freely without strapping on his knee against the Knights.
The Broncos take on the Cowboys and Storm to finish off the season.
